Letter from Our President, Aida Zukowski

Welcome to the University Woman’s Club, a wonderful organization composed of a varied group of women. Its membership is diverse, with women of all ages and educational and professional backgrounds. UWC provides great opportunities to see friends, make new acquaintances, and join special interest groups such as book clubs, bridge games, pot luck lunches and dinners, and participate in field trips that highlight local treasures. In addition, UWC sponsors a number of afternoon programs that vary from musical presentations to North Carolina history in interesting locales such as the Botanical Gardens in Chapel Hill. We bring the year to a close with an elegant luncheon at the Governor’s Club Country Club.

The University Woman’s Club dates from 1949 and is approaching its 70th anniversary. It expanded its mission from only being affiliated with UNC-Chapel Hill to engaging with the Orange County-Chapel Hill, Durham and Chatham communities. An important part of its scope is the partial funding of a scholarship for two students for four years at UNC-CH.

The board and the executive committee of the UWC hope you enjoyed the fall welcome reception and that you enjoyed the opportunity to sign up for the wide range of offerings and the chance to visit with so many interesting people. It is our hope that if you?are not yet a member, you will choose to become one. For the latest information, visit our website, http://uwc.web.unc, which has all of our newsletters and important dates. Feel free to contact me, (aidaz24@hotmail.com), our Vice President, Patty Courtright (pattycourtright@gmail.com), or Donna Falvo (falvod@bellsouth.net), our Membership Chair.
